Functional medicine for Grapevine patients

If you have had the workup, been told everything looks fine, and still feel depleted, inflamed or foggy, the useful next step is usually a wider assessment rather than another single test.

Dr. Ozzie has practised in Flower Mound since 2000 and holds Texas chiropractic licence #8418. The work looks across three domains at once, on the reasoning that persistent problems rarely sit neatly inside one of them.

Three domains, assessed together

Physical, structural and neurological. Movement, muscles, joints, fascia, posture, gait, balance, coordination, old injuries, sensory input, recovery, and brain-body communication.

Chemical and biochemical. Nutrition, digestion and absorption, hydration, blood sugar, hormones, immune activity, inflammation, nutrient status, and the effect of current medications.

Mental and emotional. Stress load, sleep, and the demands daily life is actually placing on a body.

These three rarely fail on their own. A digestive problem can start as a stress problem; fatigue can be structural, biochemical, or both at once. Examining them separately is how someone ends up with three partial explanations and no plan.

What people bring

Thyroid health, hormone imbalance, gut and digestive problems, fatigue, chronic inflammation, blood sugar issues, sleep and stress, brain fog, food sensitivities and weight management.

The usual starting point

Most people begin with the Health Triad Comprehensive Evaluation™ — ninety minutes, $449, in the Flower Mound office. It is built for persistent, complex or unexplained problems rather than a single isolated complaint.

It includes the consultation itself; a thorough review of health history, symptoms, lifestyle, prior care, medications and supplements, injuries and stress patterns; review of recent bloodwork supplied beforehand; an OptimalDX blood chemistry analysis and report when recent markers allow it; a read on which patterns and contributors matter most; and a clear account of what to do next.

Worth knowing in advance: the Evexia Advanced Wellness Blood Chemistry Panel is not bundled in. If you already have recent labs, they may be enough. If new testing is warranted, you will hear what it costs before it is ordered.

What happens after the evaluation

Nothing is prescribed by category. What follows depends on what the assessment actually found, and it is discussed with you rather than handed over.

For some people that means targeted work in one area — chiropractic care, applied kinesiology, nutritional therapy, supplement guidance where it is warranted. For others it means further measurement first, because the useful next question has not been answered yet. Where a longer structured approach fits, the practice runs multi-week programs built around the same three domains, and where it does not, it is not suggested.

If your main need turns out to be new blood chemistry with a virtual review, that is the Executive Biomarker Review™ ($495). If you already hold recent labs and mostly want them properly interpreted, that is the Blood Work Second Opinion™. Being pointed to the cheaper, narrower option when it is the right one is part of the job.

How this works if you live in Grapevine

About ten miles north and west — SH 26 past Grapevine Mills, onto FM 2499, then across to Cross Timbers Road. It crosses the county line on the way: Grapevine sits in Tarrant County, the office in Denton.

Ten miles is an easy run outside peak hours and a slower one during them, which argues for fewer, fuller appointments rather than frequent short ones. The evaluation has to be in person — it includes physical assessment — so it is worth arriving with everything: recent labs sent ahead, current medications and supplements, any imaging.

After that, a good deal can be handled without the drive. The wellness panel runs to more than forty markers and can be drawn at any LabCorp, including those near you, with the review done by phone or video. Hands-on care remains the exception that requires coming in.

Questions people ask first

Do I need a referral? No. You can book directly.

Is this covered by insurance? The practice is cash-based concierge care. Blue Cross Blue Shield is the only insurance accepted, and HSA and FSA funds can be used.

How long before I know anything? The evaluation itself is ninety minutes, and you leave it with the patterns identified and a recommended direction — not with a promise to call later.

What if my problem is not something you handle? You will be told, and pointed elsewhere. That is a better outcome than a plan that was never going to work.

Practical details

This is cash-based concierge care. HSA and FSA are accepted; Blue Cross Blue Shield is the only insurance taken. Bring recent labs, a current list of medications and supplements, and any imaging or specialist letters. Sending bloodwork ahead means it can be reviewed before you are in the room, which makes better use of the ninety minutes.

Call 214-395-7264 if you would rather ask about your situation first.
